ISP

An Image Signal Processor (ISP) converts RAW images captured by a RAW sensor into digital images. The ISP adjusts image quality parameters such as brightness, contrast, and color balance.

The STM32 DCMIPP (Digital Camera Interface Pixel Pipeline), an internal peripheral that serves as the pixel pipeline section of a camera module subsystem, embeds an ISP developed by STMicroelectronics. It supports RAW sensors (i.e., sensors without an embedded ISP in the camera module) in computer vision applications.

To facilitate ISP-based application development, ISP middleware software is provided for STM32 microcontrollers, embedding the DCMIPP ISP. A complete software solution called STM32 ISP IQTune allows control of the DCMIPP ISP via the ISP middleware and can tune all DCMIPP ISP parameters for a given RAW sensor and its associated lens.
