ISP

ISP-logo.png An image signal processor (ISP) converts RAW images captured by a RAW sensor into a digital image. The ISP adjusts the ISP image quality parameters, such as brightness, contrast, and color balance.

The STM32 DCMIPP (digital camera interface pixel pipeline), an internal peripheral which is the pixel pipeline section of a camera module subsystem, embeds an ISP developed by STMicroelectronics. It enables the support of RAW sensors (that is, without an embedded ISP in the camera module) in the context of a computer vision application.

To create ISP-based applications easily, ISP middleware software is provided for STM32 microcontrollers and embeds the DCMIPP ISP. A complete software solution called STM32 ISP IQTune allows taking control of the DCMIPP ISP using ISP middleware. It can also tune all DCMIPP ISP parameters for a given RAW sensor and its associated lens.
