ST67W611M1 BOOT and bootstrap modes

back to main page

1. Introduction

At power-up or after a reset (CHIP_EN Low), it is possible to select the boot mode of the ST67W611M1 module thanks to the bootstrap pins (BOOT and CHIP_EN).

2. BOOT hardware implementation

BOOT is a 3.3 V signal that must be connected directly to the Host controlling the ST67W611M1 module.

3. Bootstrap modes

The ST67W611M1 module has two boot modes:

  • SPI mode: This is the functional boot mode. The ROM boot loader loads and executes the program from SPI Flash to boot the system.
  • UART mode: This mode is used to download/update the module's firmware binary through UART into the flash. It is also the mode that is used to run the RF tool for RF performance checks using the manufacturing firmware binary.

The table below shows BOOT/CHIP_EN configuration to enter the desired boot mode.

BOOT CHIP_EN Boot mode
High Low to High UART mode
Low Low to High SPI mode
